Come along and bring a friend if you wish, and learn how to build a hive suitable for our native bees. We have learnt from our shared experience that tetragonula mellipes, the most common native stingless bees in the Northern Territory prefer a smaller space to live in than the bees that live in the Eastern states. Materials and expertise will be provided for you to build your own observation box suitable for tetragonula mellipes, based on mini oath hive dimensions.
Please bring your own materials if you wish and a small plate of food to share for morning tea. There is no cost involved.
