Field trip to a macadamia farm

September is flowering season for many bee-pollinated subtropical crops including macadamia nuts. To give our members an insight into the flowering biology of this plant and management of native bees for pollination, we will guide a visit to a macadamia farm on the Sunshine Coast. Tim Heard will guide us with some other speakers giving commentary.

It’s the second Sunday of the month, 11-Sep-2022, because our normal meeting date, first Sunday of the month clashes with Father’s Day.  The number of attendees is limited, so book quickly on this site. You will be provided with an address close to the event. We will meet at the farm. You will need to find your own way there. If you need a lift, or can offer a lift, then please contact secretary Greg Shea (gshea@bigpond.net.au) who will coordinate carpooling. We plan to walk about 3 km from the car park to sites on the farm. If you are unable, then we can arrange for one vehicle to drive, please let Greg know.

Bring sturdy shoes, protective clothing, hat, sunscreen, water and snacks. The nearest shop is 4 km away.

Do not go to our usual meeting venue, the Bulimba Community Centre, no event is taking place there in September. See you back there in October.
